Best Kid's Water Bottles

I have bought many water bottles for my kids over the years. I found online reviews all said the same thing “best water bottle ever!” But, they are not all the best. Some good, some bad, and most in between. One thing I noticed, is there are few honest comparisons. So, here is my kid’s water bottle review. (My top three to keep things quick and easy).

  1. Contigo

This is my third choice for a kid’s water bottle. It was the one we used for a long time, until, my daughter chewed off the clear straw part. The original version was recalled for this exact reason: chocking hazard. While the new ones are probably fine for anyone else, my daughter proves they can still be a safety concern.

Pros

  • Lightweight
  • Easy to clean
  • Easy to find in-store and online

Cons

  • Possible chocking hazard
  • Plastic (although BPA free)
  • Mold can grow under the straw to plastic connector – very hard to clean if that happens
  1. Yeti Rambler Jr. 12 oz

This was the water bottle we got to replace our plastic ones. I thought we had a winner here. There was no possibility my daughter could bit off the straw because it is one solid piece. However, the first time I put both in the diaper bag, I realized these are not my perfect water bottles. They are heavy!

Pros

  • Not plastic
  • Easy to clean
  • Durable

Cons

  • Heavy – especially when carrying more than one
  • The straw is hard plastic – my daughter hurt her lip
  1. Thermos Funtainer 12 oz

This is hands down, my top kid’s water bottle pick. It is stainless steel; so it is naturally BPA free, but still lightweight. I can flip it upside down with zero leaks. My two year old can open and close it by herself. My son has dropped it probably fifty times already and it is still in perfect condition.

Pros

  • Fits in all kid’s car seat cupholders
  • Lightweight
  • Easy to clean
  • Leakproof
  • Durable

Cons

  • I have yet to find one in a store, so if you lose it and your child will only drink from the pink sparkle water bottle, you’re out of luck
