This week Jimmy and I had no overlap. Monday night Jimmy had to work late for invoicing. Tuesday night, I had my monthly night meeting. Wednesday & Thursday nights Jimmy had marketing events. Friday, we had a date night 🙂 Jimmy got us tickets to see a show at the Kennedy Center for an anniversary present. It was so much fun to get dressed up and go out together! We saw Shear Madness. It’s the longest running play in America. I was skeptical at first, but once it started getting interactive, I loved it!
This week was harder for pregnancy symptoms. I wake up and my feet hurt as badly as the day I ran 10 miles for the first time. It’s hard to ache all over and feel huge and emotional all the time. I know all of this will just get worse in the third trimester, so I’m hoping it was just an off week and next week will be like the previous second trimester weeks. Whenever I’m feeling rough or too much like temporary housing and not an actual person, I remember this is all for our future family and at the end, I get to meet our son. This really helps keep things in perspective.
This week was also the first week strangers started noticing I’m pregnant. This is something I had not so patiently been waiting for. First was three co-workers (separately) who all congratulated me. Now, they could have each “heard it through the grapevine,” so I didn’t really count this as someone noticing. However, our hostess at Heavy Seas Alehouse was definitely not told.
She asked “so, when’s the baby due?” My face lit up like a Christmas tree. “February!”
Her:”Do we know what you’re having?”
Of course we did have a magical moment and got to see Baby at the 2nd try 2nd level ultrasound on Thursday. 🙂 I wish they did an ultrasound at every prenatal appointment. Seeing him moving or even sleeping is the best! He was quite active this ultrasound; I even got to see him moving around! We also finally got some photos I can understand. No more blurry blobs. Although, he definitely looks like a peanut now. Adorable!
How far along? 21 Weeks
How big is baby? The size of a carrot (or an endive because everyone can easily picture that right???): 10.5 inches and 12.7 oz according to the app. According to the ultrasound, he’s measuring ahead a few days weighing 15 oz (aka almost a full pound). Maybe my mother is right and he’s going to be a very large baby.
Maternity clothes? Yep – loving maternity pants, jeans & leggings. I do wear some normal shirts and still some normal dresses but maternity things usually makes my bump look better
Sleep: not enough ever. I’d have to go to bed at like 6pm to feel rested. My fitbit is telling me I’m awake for over an hour each night. Considering I wake up to go to the bathroom probably 6 times a night and I definitely wake up to move around (the snoogle makes sleeping comfortable, but when you want to roll over, it’s a wrestling match).
Best moment this week: seeing baby at our 2nd try 2nd level ultrasound
Movement: I especially feel kicks when laying on my side right when I’m trying to fall asleep. I can also notice them when I’m very still and quiet. It still feels like a little pop but some are stronger. I found out I have an anterior placenta (position of the placenta is essentially padding my stomach area) so I’m only feeling his strongest movements. Once he’s bigger, I’ll feel more. Apparently he is very active judging by our ultrasounds.
Food cravings: apple juice, gyros, pumpkin spice things
Food Aversions: nothing really
Gender: Baby’s a boy!
Labor Signs: this question is irrelevant until later
Pregnancy Symptoms: acne is terrible again – there’s basically a new zit each day. I’m achy all over. The aches are probably related to the fact that my back is definitely starting to curve. I used to think pregnant women arched their backs in photos to make their bumps look bigger. Nope (well not always); your spine curves to support a growing belly. Oh and I am hungry all the time again. I feel like I am going to gain 100 lbs this pregnancy [note: I stopped tracking weight gain on this because it was crazy frustrating with the dramatic fluctuations, but I am literally textbook perfect with weight gain this pregnancy (11 lbs thus far) so everything’s good] Like I mentioned earlier, my feet hurt all the time and I was achy this week. I fell in love with Jimmy all over again when he gave me a foot rub Saturday night. <3
Belly Button in or out? In and it has resumed the exit campaign.
What I miss: a glass of wine at the end of the day [note: I did not drink every day at all, but sometimes a glass of red wine to relax at the end of the day was wonderful or a glass of white with friends, sigh, soon enough]
What I am looking forward to: a three day weekend so I can sleep
Upcoming appointments/events: 6 month prenatal 10/25
Weekly Wisdom: Pregnancy is a temporary sacrifice of yourself to gain another life. You’re growing your baby. Sometimes it’s going to be rough and tiring – it’s a lot of work making a tiny human!
Milestones: Baby’s eyebrows are growing. We all know how important eyebrows are, just take beautiful people and remove the eyebrows and bam! they’re terrifying:
