The Racine Family

Home, Family, & Hokies

18 Weeks

This week was another slow one. I got a flu shot [how exciting!]. Jimmy and I had an at-home surf & turf date night with homemade caught crab cakes (Dad caught, Jimmy picked & made), steaks, rice & asparagus. I worked out a total of three times – proud of that. This week was another slow one. I got a flu shot [how exciting!]. Jimmy and I had an at-home surf & turf date night with homemade caught crab cakes (Dad caught, Jimmy picked & made), steaks, rice & asparagus.

I worked out a total of three times – proud of that. Including one 1.5 mile run Saturday morning that felt so great I didn’t notice I was having a 10:34/mile pace. Little faster than I planned. Woops

This weekend was more exciting. We watched my fur-nephew Fitzgerald from Friday to Sunday while Kurt & Kate were in Chicago. Kai loved having his cousin over for a very long play date.

Friday evening kicked off with dinner with a former co-worker Laura. We went to Guapo’s in Shirlington. Yum.

Saturday afternoon we, of course, watched Virginia Tech play Boston College. GO HOKIES! We kicked butt! We decided to be social and met up with Jayme and her boyfriend to watch at Mister Day’s Sports Bar in Clarendon. It was a blast! Also, they have amazing nachos that are MASSIVE!

Sunday, I met up with two of my closest friends Keli & Jayme for brunch at Tupelo Honey Cafe. Delicious. Delicious place! After brunch, we went to Carmax and test drove a couple cars. We’re in the market to buy a used large mid-sized SUV to replace my 2005 Ford Escape. So far, we’ve narrowed it down to a Toyota Highlander, a Chevrolet Traverse, and a Mazda CX-9. Basically I want a bigger car with more room so we’re looking at third row options.

Questionnaire:

How far along? 18 Weeks

How big is baby? The size of a bell pepper: 5.6 in & 6.7 oz

Maternity clothes? Pretty much yes to all. I still wear some normal dresses and shirts.

Sleep: some nights (Monday) TERRIBLE, some nights (Wednesday) amazing, so hit-or-miss

Best moment this week: finally being able to say I have one week (and then less) to go until our next ultrasound

Movement: not as many flutters this week. Until baby gets a bit bigger and stronger, it’ll probably be faint and occasional. Can’t wait to actually be undeniably kicked

Food cravings: chicken lo-mein <- this time I made it at home and upped the veggie contents to be healthier

Food Aversions: none

Gender: I’m having dreams we find out baby is a girl but then also dreams we announce and say “it’s a boy!” with blue everything. Either my subconscious is confused or wants to confuse the world once we know.

Labor Signs: this question is irrelevant until later

Pregnancy Symptoms: still acne <- go away!, tired some and some headaches but really feeling like my old self so that is fantastic

Belly Button in or out? In, but it’s coming out more and more

What I miss: working out really hard

What I am looking forward to: finding out gender – NEXT WEEK!!!!

Upcoming appointments/events: ultrasound where we hopefully *fingers crossed* find out the sex 9/19 at 8:15 am

Weekly Wisdom: registering on amazon.com is pretty sweet. They seem to have great prices for things AND you can add non-amazon things on your registry. I’m choosing to add things we might exchange, say stroller, because I still can’t fully decide on which one will work best for us[I think I got it figured out though], from Buy Buy Baby and adding it to the Amazon registry. This way we can easily pop into the store to exchange but it’s all on one list for easy viewing and tracking. And let’s be real, I do 99% of my shopping online and 80% of that is on Amazon so it makes sense.

Milestones: not really any this week
