At one point over the past weekend, I started feeling like myself again. It was wonderful! I can now run some errands, laugh or cough without throwing up, have some energy, work out, and am a decent person to be around. I <3 the 2nd trimester. Of course I still “run out of steam” pretty quickly and there are other symptoms here and there, but overall, it is amazing.

I’ve been obsessively monitoring craigslist for a gently used white pottery barn crib for a month now. I love the pottery barn style and the reviews, but hate the prices, so I thought used is the way to go. I found an amazing deal for one of their cheaper models but we didn’t buy it because I was 10 weeks or so and I was superstitious. Fast forward a few more weeks and I found a great deal on one of their higher line ones: Madison 3-in-1 Convertible Crib  and jumped to get it. Normally this crib is $800, currently on sale for $629. We paid $250. And the wonderful military [thank you for your service!] family threw in an organic cotton mattress for free! I love that this doesn’t look like a tiny prison cell, has a double toddler rail (instead of a single rail), has adjustable mattress heights, and is sturdy.

I couldn’t wait to set it up!
Highlight: feeling baby move for the first time! We were at the cottage this weekend so Sunday church was at Our Lady of the Sea in Solomon’s Island – beautiful church! I really like the priest there and apparently baby does too. During the homily, I started feeling unmistakable little flutters. It felt like butterflies in one isolated spot. Then later (during my every-so-often-treat-myself caramel latte) it felt like when you go down a roller coaster and your stomach drops, but only in one spot the size of my fist. Coolest feelings ever!

Questionnaire:

How far along? 15 Weeks

How big is baby? The size of an orange

Maternity clothes? Yes for shorts & pants, no for shirts or dresses

Sleep: Pretty good most of the time. One night I was even able to stay up until 10 pm

Best moment(s) this week: 1) Feeling baby move 2) Getting our crib 🙂

Movement: Yes! In church and then on the screened porch. Definitely baby flutters. It was incredible!

Food cravings: Chocolate ice cream, oatmeal, plain water – I am thirsty ALL THE TIME – seriously I drink like 5 water bottles a day and one during the night and it is never enough

Food Aversions: none

Gender: I WANT TO KNOW THIS. Seriously considering scheduling a private company ultrasound just so I can know before September 19.

Labor Signs: this question is irrelevant until later

Pregnancy Symptoms: still some acne, peeing every 15 minutes, other than that, it was a good week (minus 2 set back sick sessions Friday & Saturday mornings)

Belly Button in or out? In but it’s coming out

What I miss: speed boating – need to take it easy on all those waves so we’re going slower when boating, I miss “ripping it” and cruising in the boat on the weekends in Southern MD. Also easy lunches. I’m not eating any of my usual lean cuisine lunches (ingredient list is cool with me but I don’t want all that processed junk for baby) and deli meat is out unless I heat it up – who has time for that???

What I am looking forward to: finding out gender

Upcoming appointments/events: some prenatal something 8/31

Weekly Wisdom: craigslist is amazing for great crib deals. Start the search early.

Milestones: Feeling baby for the first time! It felt like butterflies in one isolated spot. Then later it felt like when you go down a roller coaster and your stomach drops, but only in one spot the size of my fist. Coolest feel
